The fascination with food started at an early age for Mrs. Liz. When she was 8 years old, she entered and won her first baking competition. By the time she was a teenager she was working in a commercial bakery decorating cakes. Knowing food was her future, she earned a Culinary Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales, followed by experience at the successful Sugarland Bakery in Chapel Hill, NC. She knew there was more to the science of sweets so back to school she went, this time for a Master's Degree in Food Science from Mississippi State University. She moved to Birmingham for a job as a Food Stylist and Recipe Developer for Hoffman Media, followed by a jump to Research and Development Manager at Red Diamond to her most recent job as the Test Kitchen Manager for The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. After a very successful career, Mrs. Liz decided it was finally time to take the leap and work towards her dream of teaching students and others about the world of food. When not pursuing her passion, Mrs. Liz and her husband Blake spend their time raising their boys, Holden 5, and Cannon 2, working on projects around the house, and enjoying the outdoors!
