How it works
Availability🗓️
Teachers offer new classes each month based on their availability. Some teachers only offer one class per month, some offer more. Teachers try to have their future classes posted online at least a month ahead of time. Therefore, if a future class isn't currently listed, come back soon and it should be there. We also share class information through email, so make sure to subscribe to our mailing list. Summer Camp offerings are posted around March 1st each year.
Locations📍
Our classes take place in the homes of our teachers. This provides students with a safe, realistic, and comfortable environment for baking. To ensure security, we do not publicly share the addresses of our teachers' homes; these are sent once a class is booked. You will get the teacher's home address by email right after booking. Know Before You Go
All classes are drop-off and pick-up. We kindly request that you:
- 💧Ensure your child has a water bottle labeled with their name when you drop them off
- 👟Dress your child in closed-toe shoes and ensure long hair is tied back off the shoulders for safety and cleanliness in the kitchen
- 🚽Only send your child to class if they can use the potty independently, as we are not permitted to assist children in the bathroom
Activities
In class, teachers and youth helpers assist students in preparing the day's recipe. Students will work either with a partner or in a group to complete recipe tasks. Each class and camp session includes no more than 10 children.
After the recipe is placed in the oven, your child will participate in one or more of the following age-appropriate activities:
- creating another recipe
- doing a craft
- listening to a storybook read aloud
- playing a game
- conducting a science experiment
Students will sample a portion of their baked goods in class and also take some home to share.
Aprons
Teachers provide aprons for kids to wear during class. However, we have aprons for sale! You can purchase your child their own apron before class or camp, but please allow at least two weeks for delivery. Click here to buy a personalized apron for big kids (8+). Click here to buy a personalized apron for little kids (under age 8).
Photos📸
Teachers love to take pictures during class to show parents their kids hard at work making their delicious creations and learning new skills. However, photo-taking can be challenging since making the recipe of the day is the top priority. Should your child's teacher be able to take photos, they will be posted after class on our password-protected photo album page. Please allow teachers at least one week to have their photos posted there. When you book your child's class, you may opt-out of photo taking and/or sharing.
